My resident expert in French has translated Cardinal Gasparri's commentary on the form of the Anglican Ordinal:
'The common opinion among Catholic theologians is that the form of episcopal consecration is made to consist after the Roman Pontifical, in only the words:
Accept (Receive) the Holy Spirit
which is accompanied by the laying on of hands by the Consecrating Bishop and those bishops assisting him.Those who shared this opinion had to admit that the Ordinal form for the consecrating of bishops was sufficient because the Accipe Spiritum Sanctum form could not lose (it is not possible to lose) its consecratory power.'
