Please pray for the 58th Annual Synod of the Diocese of the Eastern United States, the 6th Annual Synod of the Diocese of the West, and the 12th Provincial Synod of the Anglican Province of America, as we gather in Annapolis, Maryland from 20th-24th July 2026. The theme of this year's APA Synods is 'Recapitulation in Christ.' 'That in the dispensation of the fulness of times God might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him' (Ephesians 1.10). Our Synod image this year is taken from the American Anglo-Catholic Congress of 1927. The Catholic and Anglican Faith presses on!

30th Anniversary of Ordination to the Sacred Diaconate

Monday 8th June 2026 was the 30th Anniversary of my Ordination to the Sacred Order of Deacons by Archbishop John Thayer Cahoon, Junior at Saint Anne's Church, Charlotte Hall, Maryland in the Anglican Catholic Church Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic States. Requiem Mass for Bishop Walter Grundorf

Dearly beloved in Christ,

The Solemn Mass of Requiem and Interment for the Most Reverend Walter Howard Grundorf, DD, will be offered beginning at 11am on Saturday 28th February at Saint Alban's Anglican Cathedral, 3348 West State Road 426, Oviedo, Florida 32765. A livestream broadcast of the funeral liturgy will be available online.

Please continue to pray for the blessed repose of the soul of Bishop Grundorf, and for the peace and comfort of Mary and the Grundorf family.

Walter Howard Grundorf, Bishop in the Church of God, requiescat in pace

15th February 2026

Quinquagesima Sunday

Dearly beloved in Christ,

With the greatest sense of sadness and personal loss, it is my onerous duty to inform everyone that the Most Reverend Walter Howard Grundorf, DD, Presiding Bishop Emeritus of the Anglican Province of America and Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of the Eastern United States, entered eternal life today at 12.48pm EST after a courageous and valiant fight against cancer.

Words simply fail to express what Bishop Grundorf, our Most Reverend Father in God, our Apostle, and the chief priest and pastor of this Province and Diocese for decades, means to all of us. In this heartbreaking moment, we can only thank Our Lord and Saviour for the gift to us of Bishop Grundorf, and for all that he was to and for us, and for all that he has done for the Kingdom of God.

Of your Christian charity, pray for the blessed repose of the consecrated soul of Walter Howard Grundorf, Bishop in the Church of God, and for the comfort and peace of his wife Mary, his four wonderful sons and their families, and everyone affected by Bishop Grundorf's passing from this life.

It is appropriate that Bishop Grundorf should go to our heavenly Father on this particular day, Quinquagesima, wherein we remember the theological virtue of love given from the God of love, charity, the love of God for His own sake and the love of others for the sake of God. For Bishop Grundorf loved us all so very, very much, each and every one, and in his life embodied that love which is at the heart of Our Lord and of our holy Faith.

Soon, much information will be provided about funeral arrangements. Meanwhile, let us offer this prayer for Bishop Grundorf.

O God, who hast made thy servant Walter to flourish among the Ministers of Apostolic Succession in the honourable office of a Bishop: grant, we beseech thee, that he may also be joined with thine Apostles in a perpetual fellowship. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The SSPX

The Priestly Society of Saint Pius X, the most well-known Latin Rite traditionalist movement, now appears to reiterate its position as Old Catholic. That is, its position is analogous to the status of the Old Catholic Church of the Netherlands, the Dutch Roman Catholic Church of the Old Episcopal Order, in the years 1723, 1870, and 1889, as it has refused definitively to accept the ordinary magisterial authority of the modern papacy and decrees of a Vatican Council.

The SSPX seeks to consecrate for a second time its own episcopal hierarchy without papal mandate or consent. It has prioritised the ancient liturgy over the authority of the present-day Vatican. The SSPX places the Tradition of the old Latin Fathers of the ancient Church, and the consensus of the Fathers, above the teaching office of the contemporary Roman Communion. This has been exactly the historical position of orthodox Old Catholicism and Anglican Catholicism.

Fascinating.

Orthodox Anglicans and orthodox Old Catholics are, of course, sister Churches and have historically enjoyed full sacramental communion on the basis of the shared Faith of the ancient and undivided Church of the first millennium, the Faith of the One Church East and West, as expressed in the Western Rite. What could the future hold for the SSPX?
