What Would Father Luther Do?

In the light of the actions this week taken by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America which have propelled it in the same apostatised direction as that taken by The Episcopal Church, I invite any Lutheran readers to consider...

this option, this option or even better yet, this option.

I'm not so sure that you want to recruit any large numbers of these folks into Anglicanism. They need to be quarantined for an extended time to be catechized for the removal of multiple heresies before they are safe to have moving about in the parish. A few at a time, yes, by all means. But do not exceed your quarantine holding capacity. They might infect your whole parish. Remember, even if they are fleeing this bug, they bring many others with them.

What would Father Luther do if he were to see his posterity? I should think he would come to his senses and return to his father's house: www.vatican.va

I believe that these people would need extensive Inquirer's Class training in order to become Anglicans. They, like their TEC brothers and sisters who departed over the ordination of Vicky Gene, are only 5 minutes from that ordination in orthodoxy. Maybe they would be happier with an ACNA type setting. They could still ordain women and conduct a worship service with a type of 1979 Book of Alternative Service.

I'm not quite clear as to what you are saying here, Father. Would you amplify this statement, please?

The rest of your statement is clear and I agree, although for someone coming from the ELCA, the BCP 1979 does not mean much, I would think.

The most conservative Lutheran is light years away from orthodox Anglicanism. Remember, the corporal reality of the Eucharist, in and of Itself – not in the act of reception, is the heart of our reality. I can not see how any reconciliation can be achieved, nor even be attempted. We must face the reality of the cascading tide, The majority of the heretical sects will go the way of the ELCA and the ECA.

I believe that many now leaving TEC and those who will be leaving ELCA are only upset with their church with regards to the issues of same sex marriages and the ordination of practicing homosexuals. There is much more to orthodoxy than these issues.
